# Add a missing close-up without remaking your video

Add a new angle to an existing film with H3 Max Insert Video. Copy the prompt, check both joins, then use a pinned note in Voyager to direct the edit.

A wide shot establishes the product. A close-up gives you a reason to look closer: the needle touching a record, a fabric weave, a latch clicking shut. That second angle can make a product film feel deliberate, but generating the whole scene again can change the shot you already liked.

H3 Max's new [Insert Video mode](https://fal.ai/models/minimax/h3-max/insert-video) lets you replace a selected interval and return to the original footage. Here is the prompt and timing setup for adding a stylus close-up to an AI-generated turntable film.

A new angle inside the existing film. The labeled excerpt shows the generated section and the return to the source.

## Choose the moment, then the detail

Start with a clip whose opening and ending you want to keep. Upload it to H3 Max Insert Video. For this example, the source is about 12 seconds long. Set **Start to 3**, **Resume to 8**, and **Duration to 5 seconds**.

These fields do different jobs: Start and Resume select the source footage to replace; Duration sets the length of the generated section. Using five seconds for both keeps this edit approximately the same length.

Here is a shortened version of our second prompt. Adapt the object and materials:

```text
One uninterrupted macro shot for the entire five-second generated scene. Stay tightly framed on the black cartridge and stylus riding the rotating amber vinyl grooves, from the first frame to the last. No cuts, wide shot or pullback.
Keep the same cream tonearm, warm side lighting and dark teal background. The cartridge stays steady while the record rotates beneath it; the small needle stays in contact with the groove.
```

Our first prompt also asked the model to return to the wide shot. It did, two seconds early. The useful distinction: **describe only the replacement shot in the prompt**. Start and Resume already tell the service where to reconnect the original footage.

The second take gave us a finer, more convincing needle and a longer close-up. It still chose its own cuts: the macro runs for about 3.7 seconds inside the five-second replacement interval. If an edit must land on an exact beat, finish that timing in your editor.

## Check the two joins

Play from a second before the new shot starts through a second after it ends. Look for a change in light, a different object, or motion that jumps direction. Then inspect the close-up itself: a convincing wide shot can hide a needle floating above the record.

A deliberate cut to a new angle is fine. A product that changes shape is a reason to revise. Keep your original until the inserted shot earns its place.

## Pin the edit in Voyager

With a media account connected in Voyager, pause the source where the close-up should begin and pin a comment to the detail. Our note was:

```text
3–8s: insert a macro of this stylus.
```

Then specify the operation. A reusable request:

```text
Apply the pinned change with H3 Max Insert Video. Replace source seconds 3–8 with a five-second generated section. Preserve the source, save a new complete film, and inspect both joins before presenting it.
```

The pin gives the agent a file, a frame time and the point you mean. The request specifies the replacement interval and the model. That removes a small but fiddly handoff: exporting a screenshot, circling the detail, and copying the timestamp into another tool.

In this run, the agent submitted the insert, noticed the first take returned wide early, and compared a second take. We kept the version with the finer needle. H3 Max generated the new footage; Voyager connected the visual note, generation request and review.

The actual Voyager desktop: a saved pin, the returned file, and the new cut. Generation waits are omitted; the response is held briefly for reading.

In Voyager, a comment at three seconds asks for a close-up of the stylus during seconds three through eight. The agent presents a revised file. Playback shows the new close-up inside the turntable film.
